How to make a flax seed egg
Eggs have increased in price since the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic outbreak, so what can we use if we are out of eggs?
Instead of using a raw egg for recipes, you can substitute a “flax seed egg” which is ground flax seed (I use organic and it is $2.29/lb in the bulk bins ~ or ~ you can buy it in a pre-measured bag).
Use a “flax seed egg” for these recipes:
- French toast
- Banana bread
- Cookies
Directions / Ingredients:
- Use ground whole flax seed (or use pre-ground flax seed).
- 1 tablespoon of ground flax seed.
- 3 tablespoons of water.
- Mix flax seed and water ~ and let sit for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Note: Double the recipe if your recipes calls for 2 eggs.
